Connect your Dropbox Business team to Viio so you can see who’s using it, track real‑world activity, and keep licence counts in check.

Prerequisites

  • Dropbox Business (work) account – personal accounts cannot be connected.

  • You must be a Team Admin to grant the required permissions.

  • If your organisation restricts OAuth apps, whitelist https://app.viio.io.

Setup

  1. Go to Viio → Integrations and choose Dropbox.

  2. Click Connect. You’ll be redirected to Dropbox for authorisation.

  3. Sign in with your Team Admin account, review the scopes listed below, and click Allow.

  4. Back in Viio, give the connection a clear name (e.g. Corp Dropbox) and click Save.

  5. Wait a few minutes while Viio completes the first sync—progress appears in the integration tile.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Issue

How to resolve

“Only admins can install team apps”

Log in with a Dropbox Team Admin account or ask an admin to approve the app.

OAuth window shows personal account

Log out of any personal Dropbox session or use an incognito window, then retry the connection.

No data after 24 h

Ensure the Viio app is still listed under Admin Console → Apps and has Team access.

Personal accounts missing

Viio only imports team members. Personal Dropbox users outside the Business team are ignored.

Technical Details

  • Auth method: OAuth 2.0 (Dropbox Business API).

  • Scopes requested:

    • account_info.read

    • team_info.read

    • team_data.member

    • events.read

    • members.read

    • members.write (future licence‑management feature)

  • Key endpoints called:

    • POST /2/team/members/list – fetch team members

    • POST /2/team/get_info – team licence and seat data

    • POST /2/team_log/get_events – activity events (for last‑seen)

  • Viio operates read‑only today—it never creates, edits, or deletes Dropbox content.

  • Data refresh cadence: every 24 hours
