Review period enables you to specify how much time you need in advance to qualify the renewal. Eg. if a renewal is set to April 15th and you would like to have a reminder a month ahead, you should specify 30 days in the field above.
As with any other workflow, you can also specify if you want to include application owners or leave this up to the specified fall back owner assigned to this workflow.
