At Viio, we provide you with the meaningful data that can drive your SaaS management decisions. Viio Browser Extension is a great contribution in measuring actual usage of applications allowing you to cut on underused subscriptions and uncover shadow IT.

How does the browser extension work?

Currently in Viio there are two different Browser Extensions - Normal and Silent - you can find them in the Settings section under Downloads:

Once installed in a browser, first thing the browser extension does is detecting a browser logged-in user. If a logged-in user can be mapped to with an employee in your organisation, the extension starts to collect user interactions with SaaS applications and identify successful logins into the apps which gives accurate usage data for SaaS (and only SaaS).

The difference between the normal and silent versions is that the first will ask for a user to login if there is no match between the logged-in user and an employee in your organisation. The Silent version will do detection on its' own and will not disrupt in any way the user. As such the Silent version is especially useful when choosing a centralised deployment of the extension as employees will not be prompted to login with their work accounts.

Viio's browser extensions detect only SaaS Applications from Viio extensive Application Catalogue. We do not map anything not related to SaaS, which means that personal use apps are not included into the data collection and analysis.

What data is collected in the browser extension?

We are making sure that we collect only absolutely needed information to support our Discovery and Usage model.

Once a login into a SaaS application is detected, we collect a unique user ID, date of visit and SaaS application itself to provide visual representation of this data in Viio App.

We never store any login or cookies information, meaning that any sensitive data never reaches Viio servers. Additional information can be found here.

How to roll out Viio browser extension to my team?
